Purchasing Agent / Manager

MIKEL is currently looking for an experienced Purchasing Manager to support our Engineering Services and SANS production teams. The incumbent should be able to provide professional level support in a variety of procurement activities. Participates in on-going category and vendor performance management.

Duties:

  • Maintaining and enhancing the company’s procurement policies and procedures in a US Government contracting (FAR) and ISO 9001 framework
  • Adherence with federal procurement guidelines on obtaining sufficient and compliant price quotes for all items
  • Evaluate and provide periodic performance measures on suppliers in consideration of price, quality, availability and other criteria
  • Securing quality-based goods and professional services for the company
  • Interviewing vendors and visiting suppliers’ facilities to learn about products, services and pricing
  • Negotiating contracts with vendors and suppliers to obtain the best deals on behalf of the company
  • Verifying purchases by comparing them to a master list and recommending alternatives for expensive or irrelevant products
  • Track and maintain departmental KPIs to ensure vendors are meeting quality and delivery standards
  • Interacting with suppliers to schedule delivery times and resolve shipping issues
  • Authorizing payments and maintaining receipts, records and inventories
  • Manage the company’s acceptance and delivery requirements under US Government contracts, including preparation and management of Forms DD1149

 

Required Skills:

  • 2 to 3 years’ experience operating in a US Government compliant ERP procurement system, ideally Costpoint
  • Work positively in a team environment and provide service to internal customers
  • Superlative communication and anticipation skills
  • Superior negotiating skills for the acquisition of technical services and components
  • Maintain high attention to detail to ensure accuracy of data, delivery schedules and quality
  • Project management with proven experience with continuous improvement

 Preferred Experience:

  • Experience procuring services and components for US Dept. of Defense related business
  • Experience long-term contract negotiations
  • Experience procuring electronic components and PCBs.
  • Experience with DFARS, DD1149s, Approved Property Systems and GFM

Education:

  • Associate’s degree in business, accounting or a related field with relevant experience
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

Location: Middletown, RI

 Department of Defense secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
