Position: General Clerk/Media Center Specialist
Nature of Role: MIKEL is currently seeking General Clerk/Media Center Specialist for Code 25 Lab Operations and Maintenance, based at Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Newport, RI. Operations are conducted throughout three shifts. The work schedule supports dynamic 24/7/365 lab operations, including weekends and holidays.
The applicant will support Code 25 Combat Systems with Media Center support services highlighted within the contracted technical scope. They will work as a member of our Media Center Department in a fast-paced, multi-faceted environment, supporting all Code 25 combat system projects. The position requires the ability to lift more than 30 lbs., walk up and down stairwells, and between buildings. Candidates should have the ability to react to situations that are not identified within Standard Operating Procedures.
Responsibilities:
The content of work involves performing the following:
- Becoming familiar with Base Inventory Tracking System (BITS) intranet database
- Conducting inventory of Media Center holdings
- Issuing/returning media for customer use (Check-In/Check-Out)
- Supporting three Media Centers located in Code 25 classified enclaves
- Understanding and adhering to Laboratory Standard Operating Procedures
- Adapting and understanding proper protocols/handling instructions when dealing with classified material
- Receiving and facilitating classified shipping material
Additionally, the applicant is expected to support:
- Roving tours of facilities
- Recording events in an electronic pass down log system
- Responding to customer needs via electronic work request system
Requirements:
- Currently possess or have the ability to possess an active Secret Clearance
- Proficient administrative skills
- Well-versed with Microsoft Office Suite and basic computer functions
- Proficient customer service-oriented skillset
- Analytical ability to define problems, collect data, and take recommended action based upon applicable established guidelines
- Effective communication, both verbal and written, with the ability to work in a team environment

Department of Defense Secret Security Clearance or higher is required at time of hire.
