Position Summary:

As Quantic Evans experiences significant growth—we are seeking a highly motivated Senior Engineering Manager to lead the Research & Development and Process Engineering team with the opportunity to grow into broader operational leadership responsibilities. 

The Senior Engineering Manager plays a pivotal role in leading the Engineering team, ensuring the development and optimization of manufacturing processes in the tantalum wet capacitor industry, with a strong emphasis on high reliability, quality, and product yields. 

This position is responsible for driving innovation, improving operational efficiency, ensuring product quality, developing a skilled workforce, and contributing to strategic site leadership. 

The role encompasses oversight of new product development, process improvement initiatives, quality assurance, equipment reliability, project management, and cross-functional operational initiatives essential for business success. This is an on-site, hands on manager and leadership role with approximately <10% travel as needed.

Responsibilities: 

Process Improvement:   

  • Lead efforts to optimize and refine manufacturing processes, focusing on efficiency, cost reduction, and quality enhancement. 
  • Identify and implement process improvements to maximize throughput, reduce defects, and minimize waste. 
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement through the application of Lean, Six Sigma, and other methodologies.  
  • Champion cross-functional initiatives that improve end-to-end operational performance, from order intake through customer delivery.  

Product Development:   

  • Translate customer and market needs into tangible product innovations.  
  • Ensure that all new products meet performance, reliability, and manufacturability standards. 
  • Evaluate new product opportunities through the lens of manufacturability, scalability, and business impact.  

Quality Assurance:   

  • Oversee quality control processes, ensuring that all products meet or exceed internal and customer quality standards. 
  • Collaborate with the Quality team to resolve issues, implement corrective actions, and prevent recurrence. 
  • Utilize data-driven approaches to enhance product quality and reliability. 
  • Ensure that processes, materials and equipment remain within quality standards. 

Leadership 

  • Effectively lead the engineering department by coaching, developing, communicating, delegating, and holding staff accountable. 
  • Create a team-oriented environment which motivates staff and keeps employees engaged in their jobs and the company. 
  • Mentor and develop engineering team members to enhance their technical capabilities and leadership skills. 
  • Provide training programs for both engineering staff and production teams to ensure they are equipped with the knowledge and skills to perform at a high level. 
  • Promote cross-functional collaboration and knowledge sharing within the department. 
  • Collaborate closely with manufacturing, supply chain, sales, and finance leaders to drive operational and business results. 
  • Participate in strategic planning activities, contributing to operational and growth initiatives across the business. 

Equipment Maintenance, Reliability and Development:   

  • Responsible for the development, procurement and qualification of equipment and machinery necessary for the manufacturing or testing of Quantic Evans’ product. 
  • Oversee the maintenance and optimization of critical manufacturing equipment, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum operational reliability. 
  • Lead the Maintenance and Facilities teams to develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs.  
  • Ensure facility readiness, operational uptime, and capacity planning in alignment with business needs.  

Project Management and Resource Allocation:   

  • Lead and manage multiple engineering projects, ensuring on-time delivery, budget adherence, and quality outcomes. 
  • Allocate resources effectively to meet project timelines and prioritize initiatives based on business needs. 
  • Foster collaboration between cross-functional teams to ensure smooth project execution. 
  • Proactively balance short-term execution with long-term capacity building to support future growth.  

Risk Management:   

  • Identify potential risks to process stability, product quality, and operational efficiency. 
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to minimize the impact on business operations. 
  • Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and environmental standards. 
  • Actively support business continuity planning and operational risk management across departments. 

Requirements

Criteria For Success:  

  • BS degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Materials Engineering or Science is preferred. 
  • 10+ years of experience in process engineering, with a focus on manufacturing in the tantalum wet capacitor or related industry.
  • 2-3 years experience leading/developing a team
  • Must possess a collaborative team-oriented mindset and personality with a hands-on can-do attitude.
  • Must be able to develop, organize and communicate clear objectives and metrics.
  • Must be able to design experiments and interpret their results.
  • Must be able to communicate process updates, issues, etc. effectively with operators and other team members.
  • Proactive and enterprising thinker able to jump tasks and prioritize projects as needed.
  • Expertise in Lean, Six Sigma, or similar process improvement methodologies.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with ERP systems and process automation.
  • Strong technical aptitude and hands-on experience with manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience with Design software and document management system is a plus.
  • Strong business acumen, with a demonstrated understanding of manufacturing operations, supply chain, finance, and customer service. 
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence beyond direct reports. 
  • Ability to think strategically, manage organizational complexity, and make decisions that balance short- and long-term business needs. 
  • Experience participating in or leading site-level operational planning or budgeting processes preferred. 
  • Must be considered a U.S. Persons eligible to work in the United States

Work Environment and Physical Demands: 

  • General office and manufacturing environment.   
  • Exposure to hazards associated with manufacturing equipment and tools. 
  • This position requires working near electrical and mechanical equipment that could potentially interfere with pacemaker function.  
  • Ability to read and write in English   
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will routinely use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers. 
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods, perform computer work, and communicate effectively in person and electronically. 
  • Occasional travel (less than 10%) may be required to other Quantic company facilities, support customer visits, supplier meetings, or industry events. 
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 30 pounds 
  • Sitting, bending, stooping, pushing and pulling motions 
  • Ability to handle small tools, parts, and machinery with precision. 
  • Visual acuity for reading measurements, assembly instructions, and monitoring equipment. 
  • Will be required to wear appropriate PPE as outlined by company safety protocols.
