NSC Staffing is seeking an Electrical Engineering/Coordinator to oversee the design, coordination, and implementation of shipboard electrical systems in Kingstown, RI. This role is ideal for experienced electrical engineers with strong shipbuilding and maritime backgrounds who can lead design teams, coordinate with production, and ensure compliance with ABS/Coast Guard regulations.
As an Electrical Engineering/Coordinator, you will manage the electrical design process from preliminary layouts through final implementation. You will provide leadership to the electrical team, review and approve design drawings, coordinate with vendors and production staff, and ensure system installations meet quality standards and deadlines. Familiarity with related shipboard systems (piping, hydraulics, HVAC) and regulatory requirements is essential for success in this role.
- Lead electrical design activities from concept through final implementation.
- Develop schematics, equipment foundations, and arrangement drawings using AutoCAD.
- Review and revise electrical drawings; complete and process ECRs as needed.
- Ensure designs comply with construction drawings and shipbuilding best practices.
- Develop build strategies and module breakdowns with production teams.
- Review and approve vendor drawings and coordinate design deliverables to meet schedules.
- Provide field support during installation, coordinating directly with trades.
- Review purchase orders for major electrical equipment and verify accuracy.
- Collaborate with internal/external stakeholders to ensure manufacturability and on-time delivery.
- BSEE or Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Marine, or Mechanical Engineering; significant industry experience may be considered.
- 5–15 years of commercial maritime or military electrical engineering experience.
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written) across all organizational levels.
- Expertise in AutoCAD 3D, Ship Constructor Software, and MS Office Suite.
- Proven ability in planning, problem-solving, and technical writing.
- Familiarity with vessel electrical systems, AC drives, motors, transformers, alarms, navigation and bridge control systems, control circuits, schematics, cable runs, and related documentation.
This position requires working closely with design teams, production trades, and vendors in a shipyard/marine environment. Candidates must be detail-oriented, collaborative, and comfortable managing complex projects from start to finish.
