Who you are:
Scientific Instrumentation Technician
The Scientific Instrumentation Technician is responsible for the installation and service of American Ecotech ambient and environmental air pollution monitoring and measurement equipment, both remote and onsite throughout the United States. Our preferred candidate will have prior experience in the operation and maintenance of scientific measurement instrumentation. You will have the ability to work and learn independently and be willing to make best judgment decisions in an operational setting. You will have a mechanical aptitude, advanced troubleshooting skills, and a knowledge base that includes the scientific principles of air measurement, pneumatics, electrical and electronics, computing, and network skills. Through collaboration with other team members in our company, you will also help to develop client relationship strategies that not only promote our products and services to new and existing clients but also support our clients by engaging in meaningful relationships with the predominant focus being on how we can help best help them.
 
What will you do?

  • Develop in-depth knowledge of American Ecotech products and services and utilize this knowledge to successfully manage, deliver and enhance Air Quality Monitoring Projects for our clients.
  • System installation, servicing, and calibration and maintenance of Ambient and Environmental Air Pollution Monitoring and Measurement Equipment.
  • Utilizing various tools and techniques, build customized instrumentation projects.
  • Travel to customer sites and perform installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Ensuring sufficient equipment/spares are on hand to attend to most foreseeable failures.
  • Provide ongoing customer support for existing projects
  • Engage clients on how to improve existing customer projects and pass this to the regional manager for potential proposals
  • Demonstrate initiative in finding solutions to clients’ ambient air monitoring challenges
  • Perform Customer Training on all elements of products and environmental
  • Assist in meeting project management goals.
  • Positively represent American Ecotech at all times.
  • Display professionalism, understanding, tact, fairness, and technical knowledge in all customer interactions.
  • Maintain technical competency by attending training, staff meetings and remaining up to speed on new products, markets, customers, and competitors.
  • Manages travel expenses and follows American Ecotech travel policies and guidelines.
  • Collaborates with internal partners to resolve customer issues and improve processes.
  • Communicates regularly and effectively with management
  • May be required to perform other related duties as required and/or assigned.
  
How to join our team
 
Education & Experience
  •  Bachelor’s Degree in relevant technical/scientific field, preferred
  • Or 2+ years of experience in field or lab setting, working directly with instrumentation
  • Must have experience using power tools and multimeters.
  • Experience networking instrumentation for remote access is a plus.
 Valuable Requirements
  •  Hands-on technical knowledge (demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of technical instrumentation)
  • Understanding of equipment network & data communications protocols
  • Proven experience in using scientific monitoring instrumentation
  • Prior experience working with Government and Research customers
  • Strong written & verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent retentive memory
  • Ability to travel as needed (estimated to be 1-week travel per month)
  • Strong Industry background preferred (Environmental Instrumentation)
  • Able to multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Knowledge and experience with business software applications including MS Outlook Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel,) and virtual communication tools (Zoom, Microsoft Teams) preferred.
  • Able to lift 50lb, due to the requirement to lift instrumentation at times.
