INTERMEDIATE DRAFTER/CAD OPERATOR, MECHANICAL-CW
The position is in support of the U.S. Navy and the candidate will generate drawing packages that document mechanical systems including:
Generating 3D models and 2D fabrication drawings of mechanical parts in accordance with Military Specifications.
Create mechanical detail and assembly drawing packages inclusive of Lists of Material.
Interpret and incorporate Government Furnished Information and engineering redlines to meet design requirements.
Conduct research of submarine construction drawings using the Advanced Technical Information Support (ATIS) System.
Candidates will be members of the engineering design/drafting team.
Associates Degree in Drafting, Design, Illustrating or Graphics Arts from an accredited institution. Experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
Proficient with AutoCAD and SolidWorks; ability to create, modify and maintain drawings as part of a team of other designers and engineers. Ensure drawings follow Industry and Government standards and practices.
2-4 years professional experience. Technical school or bachelor’s degree a plus.
Proficiency with AutoCAD required.
Proficiency with SolidWorks, Microsoft Office including Excel and Word preferred.
Knowledge of existing submarine systems, Military Specifications, and previous defense industry experience is a plus.
Ability to obtain Secret Clearance
Full time position in either New London, CT or Middletown, RI
