We are currently seeking skilled and motivated candidates for an Electrical Engineer position in the Middletown, RI area to support the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) Imaging (IMG) Team.

Position Description

This position will provide direct support to the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) Code 34 Imaging In-Service Engineering Team. Tasking will provide engineering and technical support for the Submarine Periscopes and Imaging In-Service Engineering Agent (ISEA) Activity and all Periscopes and Imaging types to ensure fleet readiness of Submarine Imaging Systems. Duties and tasking will include but may not be limited to the following:

  • Analyze designs of electrical components and systems to be used in Imaging systems.
  • Perform component and architecture trade studies to determine optimal system solutions.
  • Review, design, analyze, and recommend changes required to ensure component or system performance requirements are met.
  • Integrate, test, and troubleshoot electrical hardware.
  • Generate design and interface documentation.
  • Document and present trade studies, analyses, test results, and status to the team.
  • Develop, implement, and test changes to the RF systems and associated instrumentation.
  • Coordinate with Team Lead and work with the engineering team to support upgrades to existing weapon systems to meet data requirements.
  • Provide recommendations for process improvements to existing imaging systems and operational processes.


  • Familiarity with electro-optical systems, i.e. cameras, lasers, and related equipment.
  • Familiarity with RF systems ideally involving antennas, amplifiers, diplexers, filters, and signal distribution between coax.
  • Familiarity in electro-mechanics, i.e. motors, gyros and synchro's using control systems.
  • Familiarity with Fiber optics optional.
  • Strong initiative, willing to ask questions & do research.
  • Ability to work with a team & communicate well with others.


  • Bachelor's Degree in an engineering discipline and or Navy experience.
  • One to two years' experience.
  • Candidate must be familiar with and demonstrate a basic knowledge of general-purpose and RF laboratory test equipment, including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, Volt/Ohm meters, power supplies, and signal generators.
  • Technical Writing skills are required as well as a strong proficiency in Microsoft Word.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB desired.
  • Proficiency in VISIO or similar engineering-oriented documentation applications desired.
  • Position requires US Citizenship and the ability to obtain a Secret-level security clearance with the US Government
