Cloud Software Developer/Architect: Partially Remote

We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated candidate for Cloud Software Developer / Architect position in Newport, RI requiring on-site work 2x/month. This position requires a cloud software developer/architect with 6 or more years of development experience to support new or existing development projects. Tasks include but are not limited to cloud software design, software development, unit test, integration, and configuration management. Work consists of developing new software and/or rearchitecting existing software to meet customer and project requirements while using software engineering standards and tools. This may also involve unit testing, software/system integration and test interface testing, creating & maintaining software documentation, and assisting with customer site installation and training.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Understand, create, and/or modify application(s) using Cloud Native solutions, preferably in MS Azure Cloud environment
  • Support full-stack web development including web applications and frameworks in a cloud environment
  • Support development, evaluation, system/software integration, and test
  • Understand and support maintenance of requirements and develop software designs
  • Integrate system efforts with overall customer program efforts to ensure our products and software are delivered and operational within the program constraints and guidelines
  • Ability to design and implement within a team environment and to lead the team to a consensus architecture solution
  • Regular communication with customers and other functional team leads
  • Position is full time and requires on-site presence in Newport, RI 2x/month.

Requirements / Skills

  • 6 - 15+ years of Software Development experience
  • BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technology field
  • Solid command of object-oriented software development, in C++ and/or Java, or similar
  • Experience with development under UNIX- or Linux-based systems
  • Familiar with Integrated Development Environments such as Eclipse (with plugins), open-source libraries and tools such as Qt, Jenkins, Maven, JIRA, Git
  • Strong web application development using JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS, JSON, REST API, Web Services
  • Experience with web application frameworks including React, AngularJS, Node.js, jQuery
  • Experience in designing and developing applications to work in a cloud environment such as Azure or AWS
    • Experience in designing and developing both front end and back end application components in a cloud environment
    • Familiarity with cloud-based DEVOPS and SECDEVOPS
    • Strong problem solving, application testing, and debugging capabilities especially if Navy-related
    • Effective written and verbal skills
    • Able to work and thrive in both individual and team-based development environments
    • Position requires US Citizenship and the ability to obtain a Secret-level security clearance with the US Government

Additional Skills of Interest (not required)

  • User Interface (UI) Development using Qt or similar tools
  • Proficient knowledge of back-end programming languages like PHP, Python, or Java
  • Experience with Java Spring Framework including Java Spring with Hibernate and other types of persistence APIs
  • Experience with relational databases as database administration or analyst
  • Experience with networking and network protocols
  • Linux system administration as part of software development
  • Familiar with Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and related technologies (AMQP, GPB, JMS, etc.)
  • Familiar with agile and/or traditional software development life cycle (SDLC) approaches
  • Experience or familiarity with DevOps, SECDEVOPS, CL/CD, micro services, SQL
  • Knowledge and experience with practices and procedures for CMMI Software Development Level 3 or greater is a plus
  • Solution Architect Certification in Azure or AWS
